A Discussion About the LG Optimus One P500 Smartphone.

November 17th 2011 -

In todays market, there a many more options for smartphones than were available a few years ago, and one that offers many features without costing a fortune is the LG Optimus One P500. Because it is a “budget” smartphone, while it has many features, it won’t have the same level of performance and the higher priced smartphones. If your goal is a good basic phone that allows you to access the web, then the LG Optimus One P500 might be the phone for you.

The LG Optimus One P500 uses the Android 2.2 operating system, but is soon due for an upgrade. At the time of this writing, Gingerbread, the name of the Android 2.3 OS is about to be released. If you buy a phone that still uses 2.2, you’ll be able to upgrade if you choose. Another option is just to wait until the phones with the new OS installed are available for purchase. There will probably be a variety of minor changes and improvements as well. While reviews on the Gingerbread OS will have to wait until it is officially released, there is hope that it will be a significant improvement that will take the LG Optimus One P500 phone to the next level of smartphone performance. The LG Optimus One P500 phone, at least by that name isn’t available if you use the Sprint network in the U.S, but Sprint does offer the same basic phone called the LG Optimus S. The Optimus S has been called “the best budget Android phone we’ve seen,” by PC Magazine. You will have the ability to download many different apps and widgets because this phone operates using the Spring ID interface. These make it easy for you to do social networking, play games or stay current with your favorite websites. Your phone can be customized so that you can get to the content and features you use the most easily.

Like all smartphones, the LG Optimus One P500 allows you to play videos. The display resolution on this phone doesn’t allow support of all videos which can be a problem. You can improve video performance with the installation of the RockPlayer app. An upgraded version of this app is available for a fee, or you can install it for free if you don’t mind ads. However, there’s still the issue that the LG Optimus One doesn’t support Adobe Flash, which will limit your ability to watch certain videos as well as load flash based web pages. There is an Android app for Flash, but because it lacks the hardware specs it won’t work on this phone. If the your main use of the smartphone is to watch videos or load websites that are flash based, then this isn’t the right one to use. You will not be disappointed in the LG Optimus One P500 as long as you don’t expect it to perform the same as other phones costing double or triple the price. As well as taking care of all the basic communication capabilities you will need, this
phone also gives you the basics for web browsing, game playing and taking pictures. For the new smartphone user and the budget conscious consumer, it makes sense to choose the LG Optimus One P500.
